A Beanie is a winter hat from the "Knit Cap" class. Gaining popularity in the late 20th century, this variety of hat has become the standard in popular culture. Originally constructed of wool, the beanie is meant to closely cover the head and ears to provide warmth in cold weather while maintaining a simple and aerodynamic form.

Beanies can be constructed of many types of material, both natural and synthetic. They can also have embellishments like balls on the top, cuffs, and graphics.
